Christmas cards

This year I stuck with the patchwork theme I have been experimenting with for a while, layering felt and fabric. Below is my base the felt here it is before the felting process, I added some sparkly Angelina fibers in gold to add some festive sparkle.

They were all slightly different I played around with embroidery threads and green fabrics.

I planned to do a similar layering design with angels and stars but got so carried away with the Christmas tree's that I ran out of time before Santa came. Oh well!

Christmas a sneak preview

This year I have had the time to go back to my Be-Ro book and make another recipe, i managed to finally tick another one off, yay. It felt so good, feels like it been ages since I had the time to plan a Be-Ro recipe. A target I set myself almost 2 years ago was to work my way through the book, and make all the recipes along the way discovering all the flavours from my childhood. Big grin!

One thing that I do every year is make cards, for the past few years I have used handmade felt as my inspiration. This year is no different. I have made a production line of cards with a view of being able to sell some next year. Thought it would be good to be organised as I'd have to start making them in summer for them to be ready to go on the Christmas markets if I didn't.

For the first time I also plan on making my own mincemeat....we shall see if it tastes good. This is not complicated to make but for some reason I never thought of making my own.

I love Christmas and I can't wait for Santa to come, I'm defiantly a big kid!

Silver Bangles

I have decided to make some plain silver bangles, because I think they would be classy and go with everything. I ordered both square and circular wire I went for the 3mm width as I fancied them to be chunky. As with everything that does not have a pattern on it and is just plain silver the hard bit is to hide the soldering.  I only found this tricky with the first one that I then found that I had developed a production line and the join wasn't half bad.

Circular wire bangles

Square wire bangles
They look very classy on and go with everything just as expected. I think everyone should have some of these in there jewellery box.

Another wedding .......

Perfect opportunity to play with felt and fabrics.......and make cupcakes with hearts on.   I used three different coloured wool tops all pastels - pink, blue and lilac. Cut out a heart shape out of white shimmering fabric and made this lovely card. Oh yes! the cupcakes were yummy very chocolaty with white iced hearts on, my friend loves chocolate lets hope she likes these. Congratulations Marylinda and Martin.

Patchwork card.

Patchwork card.
I love this cute little card, I have been wanting to make some cards with some stitch work on them for ages. I was inspired to male this one for a close friend (Happy Birthday Jo!) I really enjoyed spending the time to hand stitch some of my felt.

It turned out lovely I feel a burst of similar cards in the production line. :-)

Music lovers card

We had planned to take a week's leave and take the Camper somewhere special after fixing the leak that had prevented us from taking her out last week. Due to Damian getting booked up for gigs and my plan to go and see Pearl Jam our trip turned into three days camping instead of the full week. We may not have achieved the week but we did achieve it in a cosy dry Camper (after re-welding most of the seal on the rear tailgate).

Whilst we were enjoying our break we celebrated Damian's birthday, and what better card to make than one focused around our love for music.

Oh by the way Pearl Jam were amazing and there last song was 'keep on rocking in the free world' which was a lovely tribute to my youth and a great man Neil Young.

Bass guitar pendant

Ok, so I may have based (wait for it!) this project on my Bass playing partner and as you would expect it is a present for him. It was a lovely project to work on.

I have etched a part of Bob Dylan's All Seeing Eye logo on to the base piece of silver. The top piece of silver is representing a Warwick Thumb Bass, which is his most beloved Bass Guitar!
It feels like it took me forever to finish.......can't wait to start my next project -who can I find inspiration from next?!!

Cupcake ......or not?

After spending some time looking around craft stalls for present ideas, I stumbled across some lovely looking cupcakes. Upon closer inspection though their true identity was discovered. They were in fact socks!

After seeing these lovelies I just had to recreate/figure out how this is done, so I went home and spent some time with a pair of socks and Youtube. After various attempts I made these. I made one for all my family along with a few other friends........they managed to confuse some of their recipients!
They are such a pretty cute gift though aren't they?
